1. Brake Pads
Brake Pads slow down and stop the wheels from turning. The vehicle stops moving as the wheels stop turning. Essentially, you put pressure on the brake motor, which creates friction. Ultimately, it results in the stoppage of the vehicle.
It is obvious how crucial the brake pad is. So is maintaining sound and healthy brake pads. Ideally, you should replace your brake pads every 11,000 to 21,000 miles. The brake rotors, on the other hand, should be replaced every 55,000 to 75,000 miles. However, the replacement of brake pads depends on the condition of your vehicle, age and the road you drive on.
The table below explains the pricing of different brake pads:
Condition | Wagner | NICHE | Bosch Quietcast Premium | Caltric Rear | ECCPP |
New | $25.99 | $59.99 | $53.99 | $10.99 | $91.99 |
Used | $13.00 | $32.00 | $27 – $30 | $5- $7.00 | $40.00 |
It is true that these different brake pads function differently on different models. And it largely depends on the current condition of your Suzuki. However, the NICHE brake pads are widely popular for long-lasting functionalities with every Suzuki model.
The NICHE brake pads are semi-metallic and are made of alloy steel. This material makes the NICHE brake pads potent and strong.
To replace the brake pads, there is a service charge of $75 – $90 – as the service charge varies from location to location. Nonetheless, I would argue that it is best to replace the brake pads on your own. After all, you do not necessarily have to be an expert mechanic to replace your brake pads.
2. Filters
Filters catch the dust and contaminants from the air. Essentially, filters help in avoiding dust and impurities from entering the engine of your car. Ultimately, these filters help in maintaining the flow of the car.
Filters are of different sorts:
- Oil Filter
Oil Filters catch the impurities in the oil. These impurities can be dust, pebbles, rust, or any other harmful particle. Oil Filter flows throughout the engine and constantly filters out these unbecoming particles.
Ideally, you should change your oil filter every 6,000 to 7,000 miles to maintain peak health.
- Air Filter
Air Filter helps in catching the dust from the external air. Made of pleated materials, air filters catch external dust, insects and do not allow them to enter the engine. Thus, air filters play a pivotal role in maintaining the overall health of your Suzuki.
Suzuki recommends replacing air filters every 25,000 miles.
- Fuel Filter
You might be unaware of how dust comes in when you add fuel to your car. Pebbles, rust, sand, and dust. This is where the fuel filter comes in. Fuel Filter does not allow the impurities in the fuel from entering the engine of your car.
That is why it is inevitable to maintain healthy fuel filters to get the most out of your car. It is a good idea to replace the fuel filters every 15,000 to 20,000 miles.
Below is the estimated pricing of Suzuki Filters:
Filter Type | OEM | K&N | Pennzoil | Outlaw Racing |
Oil Filter | $28.22 | $15.99 | $25.00 | $10.00 |
Air Filter | $63.25 | $55.00 | $9.99 | $22.00 |
Fuel Filter | $120.00 | $19.99 | $52.00 | NA |
I prefer K&N Filters for my Suzuki. They have the best functionalities and last long. However, you can decide the best filter based on the current condition and compatibility of your Suzuki.
Mechanics charge almost $80 to replace the fuel filters and $50 for an oil change. Nonetheless, you can do most of these replacements on your own – except oil filter.

Buying a used battery is also a good idea – as long as it is in reliable condition. However, you need to do proper research prior to purchasing a used battery. Likewise, you have to make sure if the battery has a warranty. If a used battery is in a good condition and has a warranty, opt for it. It will cost less and will go a long way.

I prefer using Lithium Ion for my Suzuki. Part of the reason is that it is not pricey compared to other batteries in the market. Secondly, it lasts long. If you are keen on driving on rough terrain and suburban areas like me, Lithium Ion will work best for you.
Replacing the battery costs roughly $40. However, it is best to replace the battery by yourself.

Timing Belt is a rubber belt with tiny inner notches. It synchronizes the two engine valves: camshaft and crankshaft. It allows the engine piston to move upwards and downward by opening and closing these valves.
The function of the timing belt is, no doubt, critical for your Suzuki. It is important to keep an eye on its functionality to avoid any major issues in the car.
Suzuki suggests replacing the timing belt every 70,000 to 90,000 miles. Since it is a complex task to replace the timing belt, it is a good idea to hire a mechanic for it. Mechanics charge roughly $40 to $55 for replacing Suzuki’s timing belt.

The Starter, as the name suggests, is an electric motor that helps in starting your car. On the other hand, the Alternator helps in keeping your battery charged.

Opting for a specific tire for your Suzuki will depend on the type of road you drive on. I would suggest going with Pirelli Scorpion for long-lasting effects both in urban and suburban areas. The Pirelli Scorpion tires are smooth and provide a wholesome balance to the entire car.
The best part is that these tires are easily replaceable and guaranteed. On top of that, these tires have a projected tread life of 70,000.
It is a good idea to consider replacing your Suzuki tires after 3 – 4 years – if you drive them in the cityside. You should have a keen eye on the condition of the tires as your car ages.
Generally speaking, mechanics charge roughly $20 to $35 to replace Suzuki tires. Nonetheless, I would recommend replacing the tire on your own.

Condition | NICHE | E3 | NGK |
New | $50.00 | $9.99 | $34.00 |

Spark Plugs last longer. However, Suzuki recommends replacing the Spark Plugs every 50,000 to 85,000 miles. Mechanics generally charge $20 to replace the Spark Plugs. I would recommend hiring a professional to replace your Suzuki Spark Plugs.

On average, you should change your Suzuki Water Pump every 55,000 to 60,000 miles.
11. Wiper Blades
Wiper Blades are thin rubber windshields that clean away water. Generally speaking, Wiper Blades last long and do not require frequent replacement. However, a torn windshield can stop the function of Wiper Blades. As a result, it can be risky to drive in rainy weather.

The cost of Suzuki Engine Oil is between $20 to $40. Mobil 1 – which costs $35.00 – is one of the best available engine options for Suzuki.
Suzuki recommends changing the oil every 6,000 miles or in five months. Changing the oil on your can save you $45. So it is worth doing by yourself.
Summing Up
Suzuki parts and accessories are comparatively more expensive than its competitors. At the same time, replacing the parts is also crucial to maintain your Suzuki in peak health. Opting for used parts can be one of the good options.
Parts like tires, headlights, filters, and alternators can be purchased in used condition. I recommend being proactive and cautious while purchasing a used Suzuki part. It is ideal if the used part has a warranty. Thus, you are likely to get the parts at an affordable price without compromising the quality.
That being said, I could not recommend some parts to be purchased in used condition. Engine oil, for example, should not be purchased in used condition. There is a risk of contamination that could damage the engine. Likewise, Filters are yet another part that should not be purchased in used condition.
Since most of the parts of Suzuki are expensive, opting for aftermarket parts is yet another available option. Nonetheless, be assured that the aftermarket part, that you purchase, has a warranty.
I recommend maintaining a frequent consultation with a professional mechanic for the maintenance advice of your Suzuki.
